General Info:
XTERRA Branched Oak Lake Triathlon is located 15 miles northwest of Lincoln, NE. There will be 3 Off-Road events held. The Long Course consists of a 1000m swim, 21k mountain bike and an 8k trail run. The Short Course is a 300m swim, 10k mountain bike and 5k trail run. The trail run is 8k ( 5 miles ).
LONG COURSE: (start time 9am)
SWIM: The swim will start at Lieber's point and you will swim across the lake to Area 1 to pick up your bike. (yes there are 2 different transition spots for the long course)
BIKE: Once on the bike you'll hit a fun climb to make sure your legs get warmed up. The course is mainly dirt single track filled with winding paths through forrested hillsides. Don't be fooled, although elevation changes aren't staggering for miles on end, the repeated climbing and descending makes the course challenging. You won't walk away thinking Nebraska is flat any longer. NO CROSS BIKES OR HYBRID BIKES ALLOWED! You will first do a modified loop and a half of area 1 and then ride 2 miles and connect on and do a loop at area 7 before heading back to Lieber's point.
RUN: Start running and hope the you have enough gas in the tank to conquer this 5 mile course. You will have a little respite from the hills as you head west across the sand and then along the shoreline and then loop back along the nature trails. This is a USAT certified course and chip timing will be used for this event so splits will be available after the race. Come challenge yourself and live more
XTERRA B.O.L.T. (Branched Oak Lake Triathlon) is part of the XTERRA America Tour and is one of the last races to pick up some points to qualify towards nationals. Think of it as a last chance qualifier, or just the chance to move further up the regional standings. Find more information on qualifying for XTERRA nationals at www.xterraplanet.com.
SHORT COURSE: (start time 9:05am)
SWIM: The swim will consist of a trangular 300 m swim (equivalent to 6 laps in a pool). Starting and ending at Liebers point.
BIKE: The bike will then head over to area 7 for 1 loop of the single track and then head back to the transition area at Lieber's point.
RUN: The run will be a fast 5k along the nature trails west of the transition area. Starting through the sand on the beach section of the swim area.
Thanks to our great sponsors, we're going to be giving away tons of prizes so make sure you stick around after the event.
Not to mention some of the coolest awards around. Check some pics out of the HUGE BOLTS on Facebook. Just search for Xterra Bolt.
Trail Run: (start time 7:30 am):
The Trail Run will start at Lieber's point and then go along the north side of the nature trails and head towards area 7.
